Thanks for the reply’s looks like there are pros and cons to this deal not sure I would want to take the risk as our marina is in need of a lot of repairs as it sits. They sprung this on us 2 months ago and they want our decision before March 31st, what a huge commitment to think about in such a short period of time.

The parallel I would draw here is that boating and country clubs are for the most part luxury expenditures.

It's been a few years, but we went with our our son and his wife to visit her grandfather in Reno. He took us to his country club to play golf. Some years earlier, he spent many thousands to join. At the time of our visit, the CC was practically giving memberships away. Again...pennies on the dollar.

Was looking at slips in Florida the other day. $400 > $600 a month in a gated community, however u could not stay on ur boat, not even over night. WTH!

What would even be the use of having a slip in a marina where you cannot even stay aboard. I over night a couple of nights a week during the season. Personally if a marina had that rule I would not even want to be there.

Another thought. Up here in Michigan where I am most marina owners love having liveaboards in their marina. They provide what amounts to free security. Why would you not want boaters who are there most of the time.
