AUto Pilot pump size

Post by tonyiiiafl »

My 390 CPMY (1994) is fitted with a Ray Marine auto pilot. I am going to the DEFENDER annual sale and wanted to buy a new system, however I need to now what size the autopilot pump is, 1, 2, or 5?

Any ideas from the general public??

Really depends on your steering ram size but pretty sure you'll need the Type 1. If they're a Raymarine dealer, they should be able to tell you which unit you need but you'll have to provide some specs on your current equipment. I suspect type 1 will do for the ram I think you have and while it's not as important, your helm is likely a 1.7 unit. You can also go to Raymarine's site and look up the specs of each pump type. Here is a link to the different rams and what pump type you should use:

I concur with Viper. My steering ram is a 1.7 and the type one pump is all that is required for that size steering Ram.
