New Member 396 Question

Post by bobfino »

Hello, Glad to see the Carver forum. They are a very valuable tool to learn and share information. I am about to become the owner of a 2005 model 396 Carver. I am going from a 3560 Regal Cruiser and very excited about the model change for a whole lot more room. I am doing the survey this Friday and just thought I would ask if there is anything specific I should look for with this model. Thanks in advance Bob

This model is pretty straight forward. Nothing really jumps out as a trouble spot. The stringer system has no wood in it, so you are golden there. The hull bottom is also solid fiberglass with the hull sides being balsa cored. The decks are balsa cored as well, so the surveyor should check those areas with a moisture meter and sounding.

I am doing the same thing. Buying a 2005 Carver 396
Did you have survey done? Looks like a couple of years ago for you? What was the cost and do you have a copy of the report so I know what tipo look for?
How many hours on boat and what engines?
Did you do a seperate engine survey or combined with the boat
