Well now that you folks have been so informative, I am in a bit of a quandary.
Eelsnot looks like a cool product. My concern is that the website states 4-6 months of protection. I keep my boat in a 'high growth', challenging area and if it only lasts 4 months, I have lots of hitchhickers below.
I did find a deal on Pettit prop coat (93% Zinc) and it nets out to about $12.00/spray can.
The Pettit may only last 4 months as well, but who knows....
Decisions...decisions.

The Admiral had an idea. Since I have installed new trim tabs this season which are not yet painted, I am going to treat them with Eelsnot. The shafts and props will get 3 coats of the Pettit product.
I will report on the results in the fall. Take care everyone.

Qr Bbpost @Jcoll and @Throwback2 ... how long do you go between paintings? I'm in brackish water and growth was always an issue when I wasn't in-state and able to run the boat every week. I used eel snot this last time we short hauled and scraped. Going on four months now and haven't noticed any performance/drag issues.

I too am once a year. The boat is only in the water 6 to 7 months of that year. By end of season I'll experience about a 1 MPH difference in speed at my preferred cruise setting of 3200 to 3300 RPMs.

I've been reading threads on this topic for years.
From everything I've read, Propspeed is probably the best you can get. Expensive and labor intensive to use.

The past 8 years, I've been using Pettit Zinc Coat in a spray can. It does a pretty good job. Not expensive and very easy to use. I understand that the big box stores also carry a spray on zinc paint that is very similar if not the same for 1/2 the price.

If you haven't already done it, I suggest painting one trim tab with the Pettit and one with Eelsnot. Trim tabs don't get the abuse that running gear gets. It's not a fair comparison test. You are comparing apples to oranges. Painting the tabs with different products...you are now comparing apples to apples.
