Any expertise in servicing a 2003 Maxwell 800 winch?

1) So I just completed servicing the top part of my new to me Maxwell Freedom 800 on my 2003 Carver 366. Sadly it had been neglected & the pressure arm had been completely eroded away with just the stub of it left. I got a small kit that had a new pressure arm plus the little wire clip, but on mine, it looks like where the short end of the clip fits into a fitting on the case, that fitting has also been worn away. In the instructions in the manual, it notes: " insert a new insulator tube and pressure arm clip".
So I have the new clip, but nowhere do I see anything that corresponds to where an " insulator tube" would fit, nor do I see it included in the Maxwell service kit.
I have the photos & enlarged them but they don't show where this would fit.
Anyone know anything about where, how this is done?

2) I also want to service the bottom part ( gearbox ) because I can see some oil on the outside bottom of the shaft. From what I see in the manual, that it's fairly simple, to disassemble, And that you re-assemble it and then insert the "key" but I can't see what holds the key in place. I'd like to understand this before I take it to pieces.

Isolator tube goes in the hole before the wire clip. U may have to clean out the hole first of left over old isolator tube. Since u don't have one I think ur kit was short on parts.

The clip goes into a hole in the housing. The isolator goes into that hole first, then the clip with the pressure arm. I assume you see a hole in the housing? I'm asking because I've run into some units where this section of the housing has broken off making it impossible to install the arm.

The key is kept on the shaft by the round clip in the groove at the bottom of the shaft. Careful not to distort the clip too much when you remove it or you may have to replace it.

Thanks for that, I suspect that's what has happened with mine. The winch works OK without the pressure arm, but is noisy. I've installed the arm without the clip, but probably pointless. Good in one way to know that it's a partly housing broken, rather than anything else.

I've re-read the manual, and now I see that indeed it's the spring clip that holds it in.
