Spiral Stairs

Post by 1000islands »

I have been looking around for spiral stairs that go from the swim platform up to the aft deck on a 3607 without any success. So subsequently decided to have them made by a local metal fabricator at a cost of approximately $2400.

Then I was told about a company in Pennsylvania that will do them for under $1,000.

Has anybody ever heard of/know anything about, Salter Spiral Stairs?

We just bought stairs for our 1989 36Carver Aft from Salter. The instructions are for installing in a house so we have to figure it out for the boat. At first glance it is looking alot like IKEA directions. First saw them here in a picture and that is why we ordered them. Hoping to find someone on the board that has done the installation already and can offer some tips before we attempt this.

I am going to install mine this week, depending on the weather, so I'll let you know how it went.

The weather in our area hasn't been very co-operative to try to install stairs. Did you have any luck? Looking at the ladder that has to come it looks like we might have to cut it off, the Allen screws have probably never been touched since the boat was manufactured.

I had to cut the s/s to get the ladder off and I had to drill the screws out on the couplings that held it to the hull.....still looks crappy but it will be okay in the long run.

Where you have bolted it to the top of the boat, are you leaving the gap? Our step is 19" from the back of the boat to the first step. We are trying to come up with a solution to decrease that height.
