QL THRUSTER

Post by A Lee »

I am having trouble locating a source for a replacement shear pin for a QL BP1300 thruster. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I was a member of the Silverton Club for years when I had my 42C. This was a common post question. Many boaters ended up having a shear pin machined by a machineshop since the QL thruster is no longer in production and parts are scarce.

I don't recall the size but last time I had to deal with that, I took the half of the pin that was left into a metal supply place, matched it up and cut the length I needed. Unfortunately I gave the rest to the boat owner.

Have you had a dealer contact Volvo directly? A lot of the QL parts will be listed as NLA but sometimes the boys at Volvo Parts can help out. You can also try to contact Volvo dealers and ask if they have the part in stock. Carver dealers are an option as well as they would have dealt with this occasionally and may still have some lying around.
