Do I need two 30 amp Shore Power Cables or one?

I have a Carver 28 Mariner that, of course, only has one 30 amp cable.
I just bought a Carver 3207 Aft and it has two connectors for 30 amp cables. I've seen pics of people with 3207's running one 30 amp cable and I've seen pics with 2. I bought it at auction so I don't have any power right now and was wondering what I need to run, 1 or 2? AND what's the difference. Two sides of the panel or something? I know my old 74 F44 Trojan had two separate sides of the 110v panel

One is for all the normal electrical items and the other is for the air conditioning. You 120 vac panel will tell you all you need to know.
If you don't want to run the ac then leave it unplugged if noting else is on that main breaker.

Further to this....

I recently purchased a 2001 350 Mariner. It has two 30 amp inputs. The slip I have leased only has one 30 amp receptacle. Some of my dock mates say just get a 30/30 splitter to connect with and others are recommending having the marina install a second receptacle. I am leaning toward the second receptacle.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can't imagine running all your 120vac equipment on one 30 amp breaker without tripping that breaker, especially when the A/C starts up.
Have them install a second 30 amp circuit.

I have 2 inlets on my 310 Santego and one outlet on the dock. I use the Y adaptor with a single power cable to run the systems and never have an issue with any breakers popping. I only have one AC unit though...two may be more of a draw

Our stanchion has only 1 x 30amp receptacle for us, so we run 1 50ft cord into a splitter to feed both of our shore power receptacles. Our general rule of thumb is limiting the draw to two high consumption 'appliances' at once, i.e. 2 x AC units , or 1 AC unit and microwave or water heater or toaster oven or coffee maker, or both AC units off and two of water heater, toaster, coffee maker etc. Never blew a breaker doing it that way.

Feez, when I owned your boat I used 1-30 amp cord but was limited to what i could use on board, 2 cords is the answer
