I am fortunate to boat in an area where the US is a stone throw away from us. Over the last 20 years I have fuelled up 90% of the time on the US side simply because it was so much cheaper however not so any more.
With high exchange rates, diesel prices at the marinas in my location are cheaper in Canada this year. My marina is at 1.39/l CDN which equates to $5.26 cdn/US Gal. On the NY side at the cheapest place I know, diesel is at $4.52US which equates to $5.95 CDN. Never before have I seen the rates cheaper in Canada. Guess I will be filling in Canada this year for a change.

Hans, have you ever tried RJ marine in Clayton? Price I cannot tell you , but I filled mine , gas, with the conversion, it came out to 1.30 Canadian a litre.

Hmmm, timing is good, have reservations Friday night at Clayton municipal marina. Called RJ, Diesel is $3.65 which is about 11 cents a litre (40 cents a gallon) less than the Canadian side.
Then again my diesel consumption is ridiculously low travelling at hull speed 99% of the time. My aux tanks are full to the brim and my mains are still at 2/3 of a tank. Been using the boat every weekend and that is all I used so far this year.

Vessel Info: 2006, Carver 4137 CMY, Originally commissioned in 2008, it has spent its last 10 years in the Puget Sound, WA. She features the Volvo-Penta D6, 310 diesel motors (485hr.), 3 zone AC/ Heat pumps, fresh water wash down in bow, bow and stern thruster, 8.0KW Kohler generator, 2/ 30amp shore power input from either mid-ship or stern plugins. Bridge refrigerator ice maker, electric galley featuring an electric oven.
Hans, Paid $3.09 for diesel in the Puget Sound. I tried hull speed with my 4137, but sometimes "I gotta need for speed"! Previous owner says he tried to keep the aux. tanks low and run on the mains for better weight distribution, then again I have the D6-310A motors so probably a little under powered.
