Hans, thanks for posting this, great project! Do you happen to have a wiring diagram? As I read I wondered where you wired the float switch in to shut the valve once the tank was full?

Thanks, Ben

I suck at wiring diagrams however I can tell you the float switch is NO (normally open) and is connected to supply ground to the relay when the water level drops. Now you need to keep in mind I also have the timer in series on the same ground to relay circuit as the float switch which is mandatory in the fashion I have it hooked up. Basically the activation button tells the timer to start which closes the circuit, since the tank is not full the float switch also is in a closed position therefor the solenoid valve opens and the tank fills until the float switch or timer closes.

Basically it is the timer that tells the circuit to run for x amount of time and without it this will not function. You could install and on/off switch as opposed to the timer which would work but then you need to turn the switch off when complete even though the float has turned the solenoid off otherwise when you turn on a tap and assuming the tank is not full therefor the float switch is closed, the water will circulate back into the tank as opposed to coming out of the faucet. ;-) No dangers involved here since the water will just circulate from the tank back into the tank.
