It's That Time
The end is near. My 2018 season is just about done. Wednesday was the beginning of the end. I traveled to the boat to remove some of the things I bring home for the winter. Today, Thursday, weather permitting I will travel over to the fuel dock and fuel up and pump out. I will take a short run up the river and back to burn off a bit of the fuel as I don't want to leave the tanks completely filled.
Got a late start launching at the end of June but all in all it was a good season. Before she gets wrapped up in her cocoon for the winter I have a few things yet to do. I winterize my fresh water system, head and holding tank and the shower sump. The engines and A/C-heat I leave to the pros.
A few more things to take home and then start counting down to spring launch. Hoping to haul out around or about November 1st.

Re: It's That Time
Almost all boats up here are already out. Starting to get colder up here, kinda strange as it dropped drastically all of a sudden. Looks like Indian summer is not going to happen.
As I type this it is -1c and nighttime lows for the next week are all below freezing although not that much below. Daytime highs next week are 7 to 3. Yep, it's official another boating season has come to an end. Time to let the mind wander about new ideas for the boat to make next year even better

I feel for ya. One year I waited a little too long. Just crappy working outdoors with cold hands in the wind around freezing point.

Got the new winter cover up finally on Sunday...since then we have had high winds, torrential rains and this morning we are covered in snow, yes snow....good grief...
It sure turns fast, still hoping to get the fishing boat out some more.....

Re: It's That Time
Marina called me last Saturday. I'm usually one of the last ones inside. They had a cancellation and asked if I'd bring mine over to keep the guys going. So mine is now inside.
After they put the last boat in here, and the big doors stay closed, we are going to get an early jump on cleaning, waxing, and replacing all the isenglass.
Also have to replace the fridge; it bit the dust.

Re: It's That Time
Took her over to the fuel dock after adding Stabil to both tanks. Pumped in 117 gallons and spent $532 and change. I then took a short ride on the Detroit River then headed back to the dock. Next week I will run out all the water in the tanks drain the water heater and blow out all the water lines then add the pink stuff. That will pretty much prep her to be pulled.
Like they say, "all good things must come to an end" and the end of the 2018 season is here.

1/4" of ice in Sea-Doo foot wells yesterday morning
I knew it was going to get cold but not that cold. Didn't run into any frozen transom showers though. I've been out for a week but haven't winterized my own boat yet. Better get on that!

Re: It's That Time
My turn tomorrow morning to get her on the hard. It's getting chilly in this neck of the woods but certainly nothing like our good friends north of the border.
This year I used 'SeaFlush' on the a/c system and it worked quite well. Lots of gunk came out of the forward a/c unit (thru hull) as I had to 'blow' plenty of fresh water through the system before I saw pink. I will use their 'Barnacle Buster' product in the spring and give the arteries a good cleaning. Good luck to all in your winterizing.
