Santego 3867 dash panel replacement

Post by ColRon »

I finally broke down and tried my hand at replacing the original dash panels with faux teak abs plastic panels. Replaced the original gauges with Sierra Sahara series gauges. download/file.php?mode=view&id=2399

Looks good, but why did you install all of gauges upside down?

Just kidding, but I was a bit befuddled for a moment.

Actually I almost thought I had installed them upside down when I went to rewire the new ones in as the connections were almost an inverse of the original gauges. Of course, it might have had something to do with me lying on my back looking up at under the underside of the panels...LOL.

Please pray tell what had you a bit befuddled for a moment?

Nice job, looks great. Let us in on where you bought the material in case others are thinking of doing the same thing.

Interesting! I’m viewing the post via my iPhone and they appear to be right side up. Don’t know how I posted them upside down...maybe admin could fix it for me?

As far as the panel material, I got it from Decorative Plastics on Amazon. Not only do they have teak, but others as well. Comes in a 2’x 4’ sheet.

The pic orientation is sometimes a result of how the pics were originally taken, it remembers what way the camera/phone was. The I-pad does the same thing...Thats all I know about it :-D
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

:-O I'm viewing the page via my desktop and I can now see it the way everyone else does. Funny, when viewing the forum via safari on my phone it shows it right side up. But you were correct, I took the photo with the phone and posted it via the phone... :banghead: In the future will upload them to the desktop before uploading to the forum. Just goes to show you can learn something new every day!

Hi Ron - I have an 88 3867 and at first I was thinking 'that's *NOT* a 3867 Santego - but then I realized the upside down pics issue :-P

Its also funny I was going to name my boat "Escape Hatch" LOL!

The teak looks good! You have a lot more metering going on than mine though! For instance I'm pretty certain I don't have meters under the steering wheel.

Cheers,
