Love your enthusiasm! Our carpet is in good shape but the wife wants it removed and replaced with laminate. I will get to it next year, again. Its is a major messy project!

Oh man!! I love the look of laminate! In the 350 Mariner like mine it already has a part that is wood and I’m thinking matching that would be difficult. Or I’d be doing the whole thing. That’s where my enthusiasm dwindles. Hahaha.

I agree about the laminate, but there is something nice about carpet, sound deadening, insulation qualities , also there is nothing square about the floor spaces, my guess is the fitting and cutting would be quite the job to get it to look right.....good luck man, maybe it goes real quick....... :beergood:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I replaced all my inside carpets including cloud 9 underlay last year using good quality household carpet & its great & so much softer on the feet than just the glued down factory carpet .But getting the old up was a mission be ready for some blisters !
We had rugs wipped to go in the bathrooms & as door matts in the same carpet wipped with a slightly darker wipping.
In the galley we fitted new vinyl thats made a huge difference.
On the flybridge we used proper marine carpet.

Only downside is still hoovering new carpet fluff out of the dngine bay :banghead:

Just a quick update:

Completed the project and came out great! No need of for the heat gun, carpet came up pretty darn easy. Basically they laid down Silicon Caulk and tacked it down along edges where there was wood. I had the entire carpet out in about 45 mins. My sons and I used the old carpet as a template for the sections, and bang! 1 days worth of work and it was done. I’ll post some pictures as soon as I finish my next phase, and that’s refinishing all of the soft goods around the windows.

I did the same this Spring. Old carpet looked like office carpet squares. I went back to the wrapped hatches and more factory look. Color in some of the pics is a little off because I did it while the boat had its winter cover on, or it's gettin dark after working on it. haha.
Most of it was stapled with a little glue in the forward stateroom because there's no wood in there. The aft stateroom I made three pieces and only glued two. The third I can lift out if I need to get to the bilge pumps.
Done lots of little projects this spring, but between wet sanding and buffing the hull and the new carpet I don't know which one is better! Maybe the new name, ladder, eisinglass, bottom paint... on and on... I'm exhausted when can we go boating!
