Hello Kristen & Joe from Washington with a 310 express

Post by Dogandpony »

We just bought a 96 310 express and already have our first question. How hard is it to pull the radar arch for transit?
Anyone have one on a trailer and know the total height?
Picking ours up this week and have not been able to get an accurate measurement.

Cheers from Cashmere Washington

The vessel itself is approx. 13' 8" with the arch. Add that to the clearance height of the trailer. The boat will sit into the trailer a bit. Number of different trailer styles and height. Best way is to measure once it is on a trailer. The beam is 10'10", so your going to need a permit to transport. The arch can't be too difficult, but it is heavier than you think. A good boat hauler will know how to get it done, and they will know all overpass clearances on your route. 11,400 pounds plus gear. 8-) er Good luck!

Welcome aboard.

If your arch is hinged it's a no-brainer. If not, look for access covers or removable panels in the area of the arch bases. This will give you access to the 3-5 bolts typically used to secure the arch. You'll either have to cut the wiring leading to the accessories on the arch such as antennas, lights, etc. or disconnect the wiring and pull it out of the arch. Don't cut cabling going to a radar if applicable, that one should be pulled if it's an older vintage. Label everything. It'll make things much easier and safer if you have an additional 2-3 helpers.

The driver should be able to confirm if arch removal is necessary but on a hydraulic trailer, they can transport the boat pretty low to the ground.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Dogandpony - did you get the 310 home? How did the radar arch challenge come out? Any experience you can share on forum so other people can learn from you? It is that time of year where boats are getting moved around. 8-) er
