Thats a well explained read............Our FOB batteries must read on a volt meter over 3 volts, or the client will start to experience problems with it's operation.

The new cars are pretty smart. My last 2 gave give me a message on the dash "key fob battery low" We have a new Honda Ridgeline at the office, found out if you leave the fob in the truck over night and it's real cold the fob battery dies until it warms up! No issue since again what many do not know is you use the key fob to push the start button and it will still start the car. Even experimented by removing the battery in the fob and sure enough it still starts the car. This is the built in fail safe for a dead fob battery used by most car manufacturers. ;-)

Bet you a ton of money people/dealerships have changed batteries in fobs because the customer complained about low battery warning only because the fob was temporarily dead due to the cold. :captain:

True Hans, But I only change them after I've read the voltage on my meter at work. The antenna for the FOB, which there are many in the car to verify where the FOB is, the "fail safe" one is covering the push start button. When our batteries in the FOB are dead, we hold the FOB up to the push button with the logo touching the button, and this allows the bcm to see the transponder.

Not sure you actually need to use the logo as my experiment with no battery in the fob did include an ugly looking Kleenex box shaped Nissan. :-D

Also tried it on a Genesis, a Subaru and a Mercedes.

Yup, the antena/ transmiter for the fob in new our logo. KLennex, HAHAHAHA! Thought it was a toaster!!!!!!
