Most gauges are factory sealed to prevent from moisture and can't be disassembled, good luck.
I just replaced 2 tachs in my boat, https://commongroundmarine.com

True to that. I tried to remove the face plate, no way, I then removed the gauge from the dash and, yes, it is sealed. Only way to remove is basically it will have to be broken. On with shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone ever tired to have the digital LCD display repaired on the Tach/hour meter gauge? Tach works but the hour meter does not. Looking for a repair shop. Thanks

Welcome aboard.

Most gauge manufacturers have a repair program. Find out who the OEM is and contact them with a model number or take a picture of the face and the back and email to them. You can also contact Carver with your hull number and ask for the manufacturer info. If it's a Faria gauge, they have set prices posted on their site.....

Sometimes it is just not worth the expense. I see their rate for Tach repair is $100 plus you need to ship it to them. I am sure you can get the same unit on eBay new for less. This is not what you have in your dash but will give you an idea how cheap these gauges are. https://www.banggood.com/12V-24V-85mm-0 ... rehouse=CN

If you prefer dealing with shipping from America then see here. It's not like the choices are very limited. ;-) https://www.amazon.com/s?k=boat+tachome ... _sb_noss_2

Welcome to the forum by the way, lots of great people here.
Cheers, Hans

Keep in mind that if you opt for replacing with a different manufacturer, make sure the unit you get is compatible with your current system as some use external modules. If the other brand uses a module also, you'll need to order that too if it's not compatible with the ones you may already have for the current gauge, if applicable in your case.

Thanks for all your advice, I called Aetna Engineering and unfortunately they don't repair gauges 10 years or older. I have been unsuccessful finding a gauge on Ebay or the internet this winter. All the new gauges have black or silver bezel and mine has gold (discontinued). Can you think of any other ideas? Do you know of any boat salvage yards, with all the hurricanes I should be able to find a gauge.

Check out marine salvage yards in Florida, there are a few there.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Since the Tach is fine, why not just add an hour meter in the engine compartment where it should be IMHO. ;-)

Can you post a few websites or names of the marine salvage yards your are aware of? I’m also on the hunt for a hardtop to replace my canvas.
