444/44 Sync gauge not working

Post by Huckleberry »

My 2005 Carver 44 has Volvo diesels . Working great but my engine sync gauge is pegged to the port side always and doesn't move regardless of engine rpm .
The rudder sync portion on the lower portion of the gauge works fine .
Any ideas ?

Could be a faulty gauge, or a short between the sensor circuit and ground will also peg a gauge. Can you post a pic of the gauge and the set if it's in a Volvo cluster. Post an engine serial number too and I'll look something up.

If it's same as mine they are Beede gauges. There is a black box under the helm that controls that and it's probably gone bad. Mine did the same thing but I never bothered with it as I found it useless with digital tachometers. Just get your tacks within 5 rpm or so and you'll be good.

By the way, I know this boat and those engines well so if you have any questions feel free to ask...
