Re: Welcome to CarverYachtOwners.com!
Hello, we are new to the Great Lakes boating. Have had a 28’ toon for years, got a 87 4winns 195 Sundowner last year and learned that while fun on calm days it’s just not the Lake Erie vessel for us. We will keep it to run around on and fish from as it’s remarkably nice for its age.
We are getting a survey done on a 91 3608 aft cabin next month. We then will have to bring it from south haven Michigan over the top to Monroe, Michigan for a maiden voyage. We joined the usps and are half way through our boating course and starting the seamanship course next Thursday.
We are all ears for any thoughts or advice you folks may have concerning the vessel, survey, or maiden voyage.
Thanks for your time folks.

Re: Welcome to CarverYachtOwners.com!
Sooooo I have a question.
When speaking of a 3608 vessel I get the 36 (feet) part but what does the 08 represent.

Welcome Aboard Newer boater. Looks like you will have quite the maiden voyage in your Carver. I hope all goes well with the survey and sea trial. Like others have said, take your time. Stop and smell the roses as they say. Taking a trip up around the northern tip of the lower will be a great journey.
Looking forward to you posting about your trip. When I purchased my Carver in August of 2015 it was docked at Trouts Yacht Basin in Monroe. Where are you planning to dock yours?

Midnightsun,
Yes I have been a fixed operations service and parts manager for 25 years prior to becoming an insurance agency owner 5 years ago.
Primarily for Hyundai because of how solid the 09-14 Genesis were, not so much with the 15 up or G series.
First stint with Hyundai was 92 and Excel hell. Lol
Currently my wife drives a 14 White Genesis 5.0 R-Spec that most people dont know exist, but you will, all 429 hp.
Getting ready to trade it in on my daughters new Santa Fe and purchase you guessed it, another 14 R-Spec with lower mileage as we currently have 80k on this one. I was Genesis Service Manager back in the day on the forum.
Glad to know a fellow man who loves them as much as I do. I remember getting certified to sell the Equus when it came out in 11, those were the days

yep, had the original 4.6 V8, then a 5.0 R spec and finally the second generation 5.0. Really nice cars just got tired of the the sedan thing and was once again longing for a SUV. Went with a GLC43 AMG.
0-60 in 4.2 or somewhere around there. Plenty fast and more than I will ever need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlIiCoplX0QThat being said, I may very well go back to Genesis once they release their SUV.

Re: Welcome to CarverYachtOwners.com!
The GLC AMGs are very nice. But I like the 31mpg I get from my 2015 Q7 TDI, and also like that it will tow 6800lbs when I want to pull the little boat and don't have my F150 handy. I do believe it closer to 7 seconds 0-60 though. (the f150 gets about 13mpg with a tail wind)
