Fabric Wall parts 350 mariner

Post by 650Guy »

Ok, not sure what to call the pieces that are fabric trimmed around the cabin. They are around the windows, over the galley, etc...

Anyway, has anyone ever removed them to be recovered? Some of you may have seen that I have just completed the carpet project and now want to update and match the fabric soft goods around the cabin. Some pieces have been simply glued on, and will get those off just fine... but area’s like above the galley I’m just not sure? There is a wood trim blocking behind it, but no visible screws on that. Hoping to get those parts off without breaking them and would love to chat with anyone who has done this project before to assure I do not screw the pieces up.

Thank you all in advance!

I can't speak to your 350 mariner, but we took apart th e interior of our 87 3697.
Every panel was removable by screws. Most hidden quite well. Some had visible covers, but most were behind something or installed in a way that hid them.
Our had monkey fuzz in much of the main area. It was glued on. But we got it all off and reglued new month fuzz on.
Just about everything was stapled on from the back side.
But again, this is on a 1987 36 mariner.
Thanks

Agreed you should be able to remove trim panels etc without to much trouble. All my fabrics were stapled on wood forms. just redid all of our fabric and soft goods except the salon sofa in our 405 what a difference bringing the boat up to today's looks. Good luck you'll appreciate all the work when your done.

Thanks G36! I know we are going to love it once it's done. was supposed to be a winter project, but carpet, curtains, bottom paint, buffing, water system leak... all sorta sucked up my time... HA!

I too , will be very interested to hear where all the screws are as that job may come up for us....Please let us know when and where you find them. One thing I have found so far, Carver seemed to be very inventive on hiding screws in the interior.... :-D
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Hahah. I’ll do my best to document what I find and share. It does look pretty interesting where they are hiding the

We just redid our panels under the windows and around the door wall on our 350. Water leak destroyed original material.

Those panels were held on by plastic clips like used on car door interiors, carefully pry using plastic bar. Also had some silicone adhesive.

Oh very very helpful!!!!! I saw some of those clips and was not real sure how they worked. I was worried about just forcing them off and later find out they were screwed on some way. :worthy:
