Fuel Selectors in Engine Room

I have a 99 504 CPMY and am confused about the fuel selector panel in the engine room. I have four tanks. two mains and two auxiliary tanks.

The manual does not cover this panel that is pictured here and it is set as is, but it confuses me. Can anyone tell me if the handle points to or from the labels? And as it is set up now, what tank is supplying each engine

In the picture they are position to flow from the main port tank and main starboard tank. That being said, there is an arrow on the center circular portion of the valve indicating where is it allowing flow which points in the opposite direction the handle points to. Hope that clears things up.

That's correct. You will be on the tank the handle is opposite of. The pointer on the valve handle is the tank you will be on, not the handle!

You sure you have two aux tanks? From that pic, I would guess you have three tanks total... port, stbd and aux, but I don't know anything about a 504.

Not sure what year they changed it but mine is set up the same as the picture. Definitely 4 tanks. 2 x aux and 2 x main.

I did read about a single long aux tank on some years prior however there seemed to be a consensus that the fuel sloshing from one side to the other caused unbalancing and therefor I assume they corrected this by having a separate aux tank on each side just like the main tanks are set up.

OK. I don't know that model at all, I was just going by what was in the picture. I also know some/most/all? of the 356's had three tanks, port, stbd and aux.

Just seems like they'd identify them "port aux" and "stbd aux" so there is no confusion.

The left valve is labeled port engine so you either select the main tank or the aux tank which are both located on the port side.

The right valve is labeled starboard engine so you either select the starboard tank or aux tank which are both located on the starboard side.

To balance any unequal loading there is a fuel transfer switch that can move fuel from either the main port tank to the main starboard tank or visa versa. The aux tanks have no provision for moving fuel between each other.

Yes, I do have 4 tanks. mains 232 gallons each, aux 112 gallons each for a total of 688.

Boy, if you had to do a total fill-up of all 4 tanks that would definitely put a dent in your wallet.
