Re: Transforming Formica table to a teak table
The snow we were supposed to get here Saturday night did not happen. I guess we lucked out. Lots of rain though. The water level on Lake Erie is high. Great for us boaters not so good for property owners.

Re: Transforming Formica table to a teak table
Used a Bondo plastic trowel to spread out the contact cement on the Formica.
Then rolled out the 0.010 thick teak veneer.
Let it set for a few minutes.
Then starting at one end laid out the veneer.
Wife let me use one of her wooden rollers to squeeze out air and smooth the surface.
I'll let the thing set until next weekend, then trim the excess veneer, and reapply the edge trim.
Using the roller on the edges started to cut them so you can sort of see the outline of the table beneath.

Re: Transforming Formica table to a teak table
Couple more applications of Amazon teak oil and she'll be good to go.
Still need to replug the screw holes.

Re: Transforming Formica table to a teak table
That's pretty awesome.
Did you have any "thickness" issues when putting the trim pieces back on?
Where did you get the teak veneer? I've tried my local places and Rockler but no luck. I've got a couple panels I'd like to veneer.

Re: Transforming Formica table to a teak table
Yes, there were issues with thickness. Lots of rolling to get the excess glue out. If I do this again it will be with aerosol contact cement.
The veneer is only 0.010, so no trim issues.
I bought it at a garage sale for $0.30 for 32 sw ft. Yep, thirty cents.
Lenderink is the company that makes this.
