The Captain and I are in the process of getting our new to us Carver 410 from Savannah to Apalachicola FL. It has been an incredible trip with the exception of a couple of days of bad weather. So far the boat has been running great but last night while on the hook the generator wouldn't stay running. Its starts right up but cuts off after about 30 seconds. We checked the filters and oil and everything looks good.
The other issue is the DC outlets and fridge on the bridge. We have the DC outlet breaker on but are not getting any power.
Any ideas are appreciated. We are navigating the Okeechobee waterway right now and still have a few days to go. It's going to be tough without a generator.

Re: Generator and Bridge Oulets
Do you have the Volvo TAMD63 diesels with Kohler generator? I had the same set-up on my last boat and generator did the same thing each spring. Need to bleed the air from the fuel filter by loosening center bolt on top of fuel filter while cranking until no air is bubbling out and tighten back down again.

We have Cummins 6BTAs with an Onan generator. Could be the same issue I guess. We'll check it on our next stop. Thanks.

For the outlets you most likely have a breaker on the bridge for those. On my 355 the bridge panel is under the seat in front of the helm.

Re: Generator and Bridge Oulets
The shutting down sounds like it could be the impeller. Fairly typically since limited or no cooling from torn or missing blades will will trip the over heating sensors.

It would be wonderful if you could make a separate post of a log of your trip!
