Re: Mariner / Santego?
Funny how things work out. All that waiting and wondering and a good one fell into your lap. Hope you have many great adventures aboard your Santego.

My wife always says things always happen for a reason and over time I have come to realize how right she is. Congrats on the new acquisition.

Re: Mariner / Santego?
Well the survey is half done. The stuff he needed to do while the boat was still out of the water from winter storage.
All good so far still waiting on the result from the remainder of the inspection.
The sea trial is this Sunday. Anything I should keep my eyes/ears open for?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Mariner / Santego?
Not anything in particular, just use common sense and ask questions. Get it to WOT so you know what that is and she stays cool. Make sure the trim tabs work, they will provide better cruise and efficiency. Open engine hatches while running if possible, check for leaks or smoke. What transmissions does it have?

Re: Mariner / Santego?
Never mind about the transmissions. I keep forgetting Santego's had outdrives. Good luck! I have a good feeling about this!
Make sue to update us after the trial!

Make certain...
she shifts into fwd and reverse smoothly and no stalling etc. Do this several times, practicing docking maneuvers. Nothing worse than stalling engines while docking.
Power steering works well.
Engine temps are consistant at low and high rpms for extended periods.
It hits the WOT rating of the engines with no issues.
Trim tabs work.
Nav lights
Electronics
All gauges work
and a million other things.
Also while on the ground, make sure the surveyor opened the drain plugs on the outdrives and NO water was in the gear oil. If you have water, drop the price 10k if merc alphas and 25k if volvos.

What would the WOT be for those 5.7's?

Re: Mariner / Santego?
It should say on the valve covers. If standard 350's (not magnums) most likely 4400-4600 rpm.
