My boat came with a refrigerator as opposed to an ice maker. I am happy about that because as tomschauer suggests, who wants ice 'made' from 'on board' water. I used the ice maker on my old boat to store ice which I purchased and brought to the boat. A friend just installed a nice looking 'Isotherm' stainless steel unit on his boat.

This is a whole other topic but yes we cook with and drink our on board water all the time and have done so on the previous boats. There is a proper way to commission and maintain the potable water tank and the lines throughout the boat plus the addition of a filtration system in my case. Will eventually post the way we do this in a new topic.who wants ice 'made' from 'on board' water.

Ya drinking your potable water is totally doable if it's properly set up and managed. Filters required, and system cleansing and water maintenance are a must. Your boating habits also play a large roll in determining how you maintain your water system.
