GBay wrote:Qr Bbpost Hi all,
I'm in the process of buying a Carver Riviera 83-89 and trying to find the right one.
We're in fresh water and wondering if anyone can provide advice on purchasing this model with the standard Onan generator or whether a larger battery bank and an inverter is a better option. Realize it depends on the amount of power needed but all things being equal...any advice?
Thanks
GBay

I've got a Riviera with the generator - works well but don't use it much. I start it every now and then and let it run for a while - been told one should do that.

Hi, I’m Craig and we have a 1986 Mariner 3297, we’ve enjoyed it since 2010. We are from Findlay, Ohio and the boat is docked on Lake Erie in Port Clinton. We’ve kept it well-maintained and it is still a nice boat.

Time For US II wrote:Qr Bbpost Just wanted to introduce ourselves. My wife and I currently own a 2002 Carver 396. I have owned 4 other carvers in the past
20 years of boating and the Carver we have now is by far the best one yet. I can easily see us retiring with this one because it
is the perfect size to go just about anywhere we want with plenty of room and comfort. I am glad to see a Carver forum going
and I am sure this will continue to grow in size because Carver is one of the best vessels out on the water.

We are thinking about adding a bow thruster. If there is anyone reading this forum that has a 396 or a 444 with a bow thruster
and would share any information and possibly some pictures of it's location and any other technical data I would sure appreciate
it. Carver gave the boat yard I deal with some information but the yard told me they need to see a installed one so they know exactly
what they are dealing with. Like location of stringers compared to the thruster motor.

Looking forward to chatting with other boaters with or without Carvers.

Time For Us II

My 2005 had factory bow thruster but I wanted stearn thruster too like my Carver 36ss had .
When I had the 44 on the hard for other stuff , I had a side shift stearn thruster added .
It works great ! Integrated the bow and stearn thrusters with their controller which also has a wireless remote that you can walk around the boat and use . Highly recommend . The SideShift , you can look at them here . Oh they are externally mounted so no hole through bow or stearn if you do both . (I would) https://sideshift.com/
