2001 444 Issues

Post by yngturk »

Folks...

Just bought this boat.. noticed it slopes about 1.5-degrees forward. Is that normal for this model?

Also, Can anybody tell me the location of the inline waste tank vent filters for a 2001 model 444? My friend has a 2003 model, but my filters aren't in the same location as his -- can't find them anywhere and my wife is throwing fits if I don't get them replaced.

Thanks.

Answered waste filter question on your other post. My 405 slopes forward some it will change depending on how full fuel and water tanks are etc. Not a big deal. How much chain do you have in anchor locker? Or owner added weight yo the boat?

Has about 100' of chain... everything else seems balanced. I understand that might just be characteristic of some 444s. Also, Carver customer service just told me my HIN didn't come with filters. Thanks!

100' is a lot of chain and a lot of weight right at the bow. Pull it out on the dock sometime and see how the boat sits.

Just to add....3/8 anchor chain is about 1.5lb/ft depending on the grade..
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I have 200' of chain in mine and a 55lb anchor and inside in the galley I see what you mean, it feels like it's slopped forward but I think it's just the internal floor design and how it sits in the water. From the dock the rub rail looks straight and parallel to the water. I once dumped all my chain and anchor into water at marina and bow went up 1" but inside it made no difference on the slope.
