Re: trans mission removale
I don't know that specific model but it's usually pretty straightforward. Is that straight inboards or V-drives? If straight drives, are there reduction gears? I'm assuming these are Velvet Drives based on the year, but can you confirm that?

Re: trans mission removale
Which Santego do you have the 3467 or the 3867? If the 3867 tis a straight velvet trans to a Walter V-drive. Is it the transmission or the v-drive you need to pull?

Re: trans mission removale
I doubt Carver will chime in and tell you how the remove the tranny due to liability issues. As mentioned, its pretty straight forward when you look at the job. Are you sure the tranny is shot?

Re: trans mission removale
I have done this job my self. You need to build a small wooden A frame that will sit on the salon seating over the hatch opening above the v drive/trans. Using the a frame to center a sling around the transmission and lifting it out with my brother. Trans rebuild cost $1100. When it’s time to put it back you will need Two 3/8 X 6” smooth shank bolts, cut the hex head off, and use the bolts as guide pins to slide the trans back onto the bell housing. It won’t be easy, you may need to shorten those bolt/ guide pins to allow the angle to align and drop into position.

Re: trans mission removale
Hi. Split the V-drive from the Velvet Drive. Leave the V-drive sit under the motor resting on some pre-cut plywood, NOT the shaft packing. Threaded Rod is your friend upon reassembly. Rubber tire inner tubes work great when you need some help lifting the assembly, with a hand air pump. Make sure your velvet Drive front pump is clocked for rotation CORRECTLY, or You will have to do it twice. I'm done.

Re: trans mission removale
Are we talking about the V-Drive transmission on the engine, or the Walter v-drive separate from and connected to the engine with a shaft and u-joints?

It's really hard for Me to imagine a divorced Walther in a 38' Santego, But I'm wrong quite a bit.

Here is a pic of one. You can see the u-joints going through the hole in the bulkhead, the Walter drive is on the other side of the bulkhead. This is in a /90 Santego 38'
