Re: Grounding, Not Good
UPDATE: The slightly bent strut is not repairable however they were able to find a new/old stock OEM strut so I now have 2 new OEM struts. The shafts are being machined in Orillia, Ont at United propeller where they will fit the couplings and new props as the old ones cannot be repaired. Only 2 more boatless weeks if things go as planned
I have nothing bad to say about United Propeller in Orillia. They repaired one of my props 5 years ago and tuned both of them 3 years ago. Great staff!

I had my props scanned there a few years ago. Agreed, friendly and professional.

I deal with them all the time. Amanda and the staff there know their stuff. I must say I'm surprised though that your job ended up all the way out here. Nobody local to you that does that sort of thing at the same level?

Re: Grounding, Not Good
Unfortunately not at their level. Really scarce boat stuff around my area. Did you know that United Propeller is the only place in Canada that can do a prop scan?

Re: Grounding, Not Good
I've dealt with Kawartha a few times and I though they did it as well but I could be wrong. Done so many impacts I can't remember if scans came from both or just UP.
Was it UP that was sourcing your gear?

Re: Grounding, Not Good
I actually did all the ground work locating everything required starting with a phone call to Carver. The struts, bearings and couplings are from Croix Machine who are the OEM of Carver. The shafts and props are coming from UP. I already have everything from Croix and by the end of next week everything from UP should be in our hands.
looking pretty good for the weekend of the 17th.

Man thats painful.. I did the same some years back in the mississippi... Right in the middle of the channel landed on rocks.. Same damage.. Though my props looked like i took a cam opened to them.. I had to do insurance... 12K repair for me.

Re: Grounding, Not Good
As usual when we are in a hurry it takes longer. One of the struts had a defect so we located another which should arrive tomorrow. Tough call to have her together for the weekend but come Monday/Tuesday we should be good to go. Wife wants to spend August in Georgian Bay next summer. Looks like we will be doing the Trent once again
