replacement round blackout shade for forward berth hatch

Post by Cliffm »

We have a 2006 Carver 36MY purchased fall of last year. I can see where is there is lips in frame of the forward berth ceiling hatch which I assume would hold a blackout screen. We didn't find on the vessel.

Has anyone replaced theirs? if so where did you get it ?

If there is a brand marked on the hatch, give the OEM a call. Or you can contact Carver with your hull number and they'll give you the supplier information for the hatch.

My 356 has a frame with regular bug screen in it. I bought some block out material at a fabric store, cut to size of the frame and just lay it on top of the bug screen to block out light but easy to remove if I want air to come in but not bugs.

As buster mentioned, the wife bought some thick black poster board type material and cut to fit.

Many aftermarket options out there. Some inexpensive, some not so much. Here's one:

ALL,
I found "Great Lakes Skipper" had "Jim Black" 20" privacy screen and black out screen.
Ordered both, received both, captain is happy.

Hey quick question what size did you get 18” x 18”

Or 20 x 20

Did it install easy and work great?

Have a 2004 356 and want the ease of screen and blackout etc

Thanks so much!!
