fuel gauges

Postby rjr » August 5th, 2019, 5:01 pm

Not long ago I posted about the Flo-scan system and stated I was happy with gauges.

I couldn't figure out why there was one fuel gauge on the console. I thought the other one had been replaced by a depth finder finder after the flo-scan installation. The gauge was inoperative. I also didn't know what the toggle switch (marked port & starboard) under the gauge was for. I thought maybe it was for fuel transfer.

Well I know now. The seller stopped by the other day. I asked him about the gauge and he showed me how the toggle switch reports the quantity in each tank. Only problem is he had removed the fuel sending unit on the starboard tank.

He said Carver had told him, long ago, that the sending units for diesel fuel were "problematic."

I haven't checked with Carver yet. Does anyone know who the supplier for sending units was/is? What about the the "problematic" issue. How well do your gauges work?

I'm guessing by now the sending units have improved.

Flo-scan is the company that sold the package. Senders, gages, etc.
Try ebay
Thanks

I am guessing the fuel level gauge is original and not Flo Scan? If so you need to determine what brand gauge you have and then match with the correct ohm value and depth of tank sender which a local supplier should be able to provide. ( See my post earlier this month).
