Hi everyone, I'm first timer at boating as well as forums and thought why not join this Carvers forum as I've purchased an 1988 Santego 2767 with twins 3.7 mercruiser alpha ones.. Story short, I have the boat two years ago and first time in water was a bad experience as boat wasn't in condition claimed by seller (as usual) but did encourage me to spend the next year 1/2 learning all about these 3.7L mercruiser engines and drives, by pulling them out and bringing them to my backyard where I was able to rebuild both engines and drives including its quadrajet carbs.. It's been a great learning experience as I did not know anything about mechanic but thanks to youtubers posting videos on how to do things plus forums I've visited and ready great articles ending in great help to accomplish it, plus of course the mercruiser manual. So far I'm glad with the results though not 100% yet the way I want it to be, but boat is finally in the waters since July running well enough. This time I'm learning the electrical part of boating which has driving me to this forum and for which I'll be inquiring help on proper designated topics. Thanks to all who help me without knowing it! and looking forward to try to help or assist with the little experience I now have. Cheers :-D

Ok, because of all your problems, you have become a very knowledgeable boat owner. You have learned more in the past year and a half than many of us learn in 10 years. Kudos for all your persistence and hard work.
I'm guessing when you bought the boat, you did not get it surveyed and maybe even didn't do a sea trial. Can you give us more details of the purchase and where the seller was less than truthful?

Welcome aboard. Happy you finally got in the water and decided to join us.

Do your engines still have stator charging or have they been upgraded with alternators? If they haven't been upgraded, I highly recommend you do before the stators or water cooled regulators fail ($$$), they're known to be problematic. You'll also get much better charging out of the alternators.
