Carver 356 Aft Cabin - Refrigerator Swap

Post by amyelias »

Hello,

My 1999 Norcold refrigerator finally quit and needs replacement. I am interested in replacing it with a Vitrifrigo DP2600 8.1 cu ft refrigerator. Dimensionally it looks like it will fit, though I am thinking there will be interference (depth) with the fiberglass hull liner (see picture). I may need to cut out a small portion of it to fit the Vitrifrigo.

Has anyone installed a Vitrifrigo DP2600 in a 356 Aft ? Any major fit/finish issues arise ? And how did you resolve them ? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, anyone with a working Norcold (late 90's/early 2000's vintage) that would like to buy the doors/trays from my old one ? They have the cherry panels and are in excellent condition. $50.00 for all. I can provide pic's if interested.

Brian

I put the vitrifigo in my 405 and love it. I had to trim just a little on the sides. Added a 3/4 spacer on the front of the opening around the fridge painted it black you can't even see it. You won't find a bigger internal layout than the vitrifigo. Your 356 compartment should be pretty similiar in size . I think the oem norcolds were in both boats

I put a new fridge in my 356 when I had it. Fit perfect with no issues. It is a better fridge and it is easier on the batteries when on the hook. We found it to be bigger inside as well. You will be very happy. My only issue was getting the old one out, bit tight.

Thanks for the reply's gentlemen. Sounds like it's a Vitrifrigo for me. Enjoy the rest of your boating season! Brian.
