Hi, the bug screens on my 1998 405 are getting a bit torn up. The boat is new to me and I thought there would be a simple way of pulling iut the old bug screen and putting a new one back in place. However, it appear the bug screen material is embedded into the foam material seal for the portlight lens. Has anyone replaced just the screen?
Thanks in advance
Frank

Re: 405/406 Port Light Screen Replacement
Some have claimed success at carefully removing the gasket, replacing the screen and then reinstalling. If your port lights are the oval style there is a retrofit kit available from Pompanette that includes a removable screen.

Re: 405/406 Port Light Screen Replacement
I am in middle of replacement project. Be careful with Bomar. First kit sent was elliptical even though service rep was advised my port light was oval. Second kit included screen with frame; original screen was unframed. I am still waiting for reply regarding second kit. Catalog on website may not show your item. Some kits are in inventory but not pictured in catalog.
I bought a roll of aluminum screening and am fashioning a replacement.

Re: 405/406 Port Light Screen Replacement
Details - my screen was not embedded but pressed into channel (may have been glued) and then seal was inserted. Seal had adhesive on it. I think time and heat made it appear embedded.

I am taking on same project with my 466. Can you tell me if you had success? What adhesive did you use? Any tips or advice?
