Re: Compressor not producing cold air
Thanks tomschauer! Yes my understanding is that the compressor is kicking on. I had a mechanic take a look and his suspicion was the the compressor needed replacing. If that is the case, my next step will be to try and find a new/used compressor to swap out.

If the compressor is running, it doesn't need replaced. Something else is wrong such as low refrigerant.

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
Check first if the heat setting works. If you get hot air, your compressor is fine and the culprit is your reverse cycle valve.

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
I tried the heat setting but I didn't seem to get hot air out the vents.
I have tried to find the reverse cycle valve on this unit but I cannot locate it. Honestly, I don't even know what it looks like or where to look. I've read the manual online but it doesn't clearly show where the valve is located. And I didn't see anything that might resemble it either.

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
One thing I can tell you for sure is that having an Ac/heat pump guy to the boat is very expensive and you may get no joy after........Do you think you could remove the unit yourself and take it to a shop for repair, that way it is on their bench and they can solder away in total bliss.
Considering the age of the unit, perhaps just a replacement would be the best route...all new stuff/controls etc...nice...
Here is something to read that I came across looking for reversing valve parts.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
Do you have an amp probe and know how to check current draw at the compressor common line?

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
If the compressor is running but drawing low amps it's most likely low on refrigerant.
On the one picture it looks like someone brazed in a service fitting. If this is the case it was most likely low before maybe repaired maybe just refilled.

Re: Compressor not producing cold air
Sounds like we’re having similar issues. We have a 1986 4207. Our aft ac unit was working( the only 1 of 3 units that work) we left the boat for 2 weeks, came back and turned it on. Everything runs fine but doesn’t blow cool/ cold air. It blows warm. The compressor comes on and off. We have no idea where the reverse cycle valve is to tap it if it’s stuck.

I have no idea what an amp probe is let alone how to use one lol
