I have a 1988 3807. I love this boat but we are getting older and now have 2 young puppies. I would like to replace stairs and add a stairs like is on the 430 cockpit motor yacht. Anyone had success with this approach or know where I could either purchase or have a set fabricated?
Thanks

Re: Replace ladder for stairs
All us 3807 owners are in the same boat. I've had a few quotes to make them out of SS or aluminum but it's really pricey so I'll put it off for a little while longer. Keeping my eyes open for a used one.

Re: Replace ladder for stairs
Are you talking about the stairs down to the swim platform, or does the 3807 have a ladder somewhere else?

Re: Replace ladder for stairs
If that's the case, I think there's a thread on here where one of the members built his own FRP steps on a 3207 boat. He also added a much larger swim platform as well, with a seat/storage on it. I'll poke around and see if I can find the thread. It was a nice project.
EDIT:
Here is a picture of his boat:

Here is the thread. At the beginning of the thread is where he was making the steps and the swim platform (he goes on to also make a hardtop and radar arch!)

Ya saw that. Beyond the scope of the average person IMO. He did great job though.

Perhaps not for the individual, but I'm sure he could show the idea to a local fiberglass shop to get some quotes.
If anyone was seriously considering it, I'd bet Matt would share any drawings or measurements or suggestions he had to help out another member.

Re: Replace ladder for stairs
I had not seen that thread before, thanks for posting the links. Man that is some knowledge and talent there, a great eye for the finished product.
I wonder if the OEM was made in house or they contracted the job out, I helped a friend with the 370 aft that had those metal spiral stairs.....we removed them and he sent them off to get powder coated. It did not seem an overly complicated piece......maybe a boat salvage yard somewhere.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Replace ladder for stairs
I contacted Carver about the spirals and they said they produced them in house but don't have any more on hand and of course they don't use them for any newer models as steps are molded in now. Carver got rid of the technical diagrams for the spirals which was pretty disappointing.
