Any updates?mobinakhtar wrote:QR_BBPOST I will update this weekend, No energy to visit the boat - I am dead tired after the long weekend 1200 mile roundtrip to the Gulf shores. Maybe one day I'll travel from Galveston to Gulf Shores in my Carver.

No Sirs. I went to visit my daughters at college and hence could not visit the boat this weekend. Hopefully, I'll be able to go this week sometime. A Horrifying thought is that tanks never got emptied and they were half full of watery fuel. I cannot find and 396's with 180gal tanks - they are all 330 gallons capacity in Gas.

I think you are correct about the fuel capacity for your boat......Have a look at the parts manual for your year and model boat...it shows only two tanks at 165gallons each....section 7.4/7.5...

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: 2003 Carver 396 Fuel Capacity
UPDATE 09-25-19.
So now we are 99% sure that fuel capacity is 330Gal in two tanks. Both senders are stuck at Empty or both Gauges have gone bad. The mechanic is now working on the fuel senders. We have determined so far that fuel is OK. Both engines had clogged up fuel rails and injectors that were replaced with new units in addition to fuel filters and filter-housings, as old housings were stuck to the point where we could not open them up for a filter change. Mechanic ended up twisting one and I opted to have them both replaced.
Both engines idle nicely now and quickly transition to 3K RPM when throttled up. Earlier, they would die as soon as the throttle was applied.
Work remaining - Fuel senders and Genset. Genset is not starting with switch. Either electronic or fuel related. I keep reading that after a certain low fuel level, Genset will shut down. Since both gauges are reading at E or a little bit above, Once senders are fixed maybe Genset will start. Then most likely we'll have to clean its carb etc. to get it going.
Mechanic is on it today - so hopefully I will get an update by EOB.

Re: 2003 Carver 396 Fuel Capacity
Final Update on Gas tanks - Both fuel senders were bad. The floats somehow took on fuel and would sink to the bottom (E) position. I had both sides replaced with KUS brand 21" Marine fuel senders from Amazon.com which cost about $170 for the pair. Now gas gauges work correctly showing the gas in tanks.
Genset won't trigger still, just makes a clicking noise when button pushed to start it. I think I will start a new thread on the Genset.

Sorry, I deleted my question. Didn't notice there was a page 2.
