New Carver 320 owner

Post by Pugry27 »

We would like to say hi to the member's of the forum from Grimsby , Ontario.

We now own a 1996 Carver 320 , really have enjoyed the first 8 weeks or so but am still having some difficulty docking on a day with a brisk wind. I have gone through some of the basic systems and have found that this site and contributors have already became an invaluable tool. I would like to thank the board in advance for the novice questions I will definitely be posting. Cheers and safe sailing.

Welcome to the gang. When you get the hang of adjusting throttles in windy conditions, it will get better. Just takes practice. Wind is tough, especially if your bridge covers are up. 8-) er

Like everyone else said, practice makes perfect. Any sedan type boat is going to be affected by the wind. When I first got my Carver if the winds were over 10 MPH I chose not to leave the dock. That did not leave a whole lot of boating days available. So, I finally decided if I wanted to use my boat I had to go out on windy days too.

It took my practicing and learning how the boat handled under windy conditions. I kept at it and continued to improve my techniques. I now pretty much go out whenever I choose. I know how the boat reacts and am able to counteract the effects of winds with the use of my throttles and transmissons. Fortunately during my learning curve I had no incidents.

Keep at it, you'll be fine in time.
