Pre Filtering City/Pedestal Water

Sometimes pedestal water has some funny plastic taste to it, although I have a filtration system on board no harm in putting in better stuff when filling/using water from the source. Came across this which is similar to the RV stuff and thought it might interest others. Going to buy a 2 pack, one for the permanent pedestal hose and another for my travel hose. Chuck them after the season is over. Same product is available on Amazon US by the way.

Those are good to have especially when traveling. I don’t have a picture, but I have a permanent canister style mounted at my dock water supply with replaceable filters. Once or twice a season, I pour some bleach into the canister and it flushes out my entire water system

I've been using the Camco one for 2 seasons now. Much better, no smells etc. And, like you said, I have one for my travel hose.

Problem is the water that sits in the hose run from fileter to boat. Cooks in the hose exposed to the sun until requested on board. RO is the only real solution.

Using bleach, be careful. Bleach has never been tested for what else is in it. Purer chlorine would be a better bet, like the stuff you can buy for swimming pools. I take it these Amazon filters are better than the blue Camco filters?

taste of hose water makes me feel like a kid again, while camping we have used camco and other similiar inline brands too. may have to try these also

Good question. Our city marina has backflow preventers at every spigot. I also place a pressure regulator to ensure it never exceeds 50psi, I had one boat neighbour that measured 90psi!

We also have backflow preventers at each spigot. In the new pedestals, it's built into the pedestal. On the older docks, they were the screw-on ones you could get from the hardware store (that also don't really work that well).

We don't ever see more than 50PSI at out docks.
