TV on board
I just upgraded the TV in the salon of my 506 to a smart TV. I don't really watch that much TV on e boat, but the kids like it. I have been reluctant to spend $5,000 on a satellite receiver, so have been looking for alternatives--no cable at my marina. I am considering getting a Slingbox to hook up to my Direct TV at home, and receiving the satellite signal over the Internet on my smart TV (the marina has high-speed wireless Internet). Does anyone have any experience with this? I am wondering how well it really works...

Re: TV on board
A neighbor has a number of houses and did that slingbox for a while.
Then he bought appletv and watches movies and old shows on it. I do not believe he can pick up anything current on appletv.

Re: TV on board
I tried streaming through my smart phone and initially it worked but since iPhone upgraded their software, I get nothing. That really ticked me off. There's a product on the market called "vu cube" and it's a self locating satellite tv system. Completely portable which is great because we can use it while at the dock and also in our RV when camping. It's not meant to work whilst the vessel is underway but would be good entertainment for this kids while docked.
