Bottom Paint Question

Post by denpooch »

Hello everyone. I hope that you are all healthy and safe.
I am about to uncover my boat and the marina is looking to paint the bottom. I think he wants to get the job done ASAP as he may be operating 'under the radar' and is not sure if he will be closed down tomorrow.
As we are all living with unforeseen delays, I would like to know if the boat is painted with an ablative formula, will the paint still be effective if the launch is delayed a month or more? Will the new paint lose its efficacy while sitting on the 'hard' for an extended period of time? Thanks.

No issues launching late with ablative. Read the label to be sure but typically ablatives reactivate once they hit water even if it's been out for months like over winter, unlike some other formulations that are rendered useless once the boat comes out of the water, and must be launched typically within 30 days after application.
