I've had boats with both and prefer the hard top, especially on a larger boat. It is much easier to maintain than the canvas, better at keeping the weather out, and in my opinion increases the ascetics of the boat.

I have a 530 with bimini, and a pilothouse. I would much rather have a hardtop and no isenglass. Run from the fly when weather is good, run from the pilothouse when it's not. My next boat will have a hardtop
