New Carver Riviera Owner

Post by Petemait »

Hello all,
My wife and I just recently bought a 1983 Carver Riviera. We have a lot of work to do but we are very excited.
We are from Massachusetts and plan to use it for family trips to the cape and to maine as well as typical day trips in the local area. We used to own a 25' wellcraft but wanted something bigger to cruise on with the growing family.

Does anyone have any advice for owning an older Riviera? We are open to any and all advice or ideas.

Also, the book recommends 30 weight oil but noticed that some people use 10w 40. Any recommendations?

We are looking forward to becoming part of the carver community.

Best,
Pete

Welcome to the forum....good choice, tons of room for a 28' boat that is for sure.

Most people just use Rotella 15w40, but there will be lot's of opinions about this....it is hard to find SAE 30w and SAE 40w nowadays.......good luck with your new boat....Will you visit Ogunquit ?
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

bud 37, Thank you for your reply. I think i will go with the Rotella 15w40. I saw that on another site as well.

Ogunquit is a cool spot. I have a 9 month old so might not make it to maine this summer but hopefully soon!
Also, i like your quote...
Best,
Pete
