You have the ADC2100 controller. When cranking, you will see CC1, CC2, then CC3. The controller will make 3 attempts to start and if it does not, it will set the OC code. However if the battery voltage is low, you will immediately get the OC code with no cranking attempts. It is a quirk of that software. All Kohlers have a built in charging system though some are pretty weak, only 10 amps or so.

Re: Does the Generator Charge the Genny Starter Battery when running?
So I'm thinking its a bad battery....after a week charging on shore power I disconnected and genny fired up fine on the dock. Got out on the water fired once fine, then kept giving me the OC fault. Reset at the genny and only way she would fire up was via the switch on the unit itself and I had to give it 4-5 seconds to fire up. Only way she fired up at the panel was when I had the engines running, but perhaps that was a coincidence.
I checked the voltage and it read 12.4 so that is a bit strange, but will replace and try again.

Sure sounds like it....12.4 is fairly low for a battery that has been floated for a week. Check the voltage when you are cranking the gen and see what the drop is.........generators take very little cca for their battery requirement specs.
Have you cleaned all the connections ?
Have you cleaned all the connections ?
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I haven't as they look very clean. I should have mentioned that the 12.4 test was once we returned to dock after being on the hook for 3 days as I left the tester in the truck after she fired up fine.

Was back up and tested the battery under load. When starting it barely dropped below 12V so not the battery. Also checked the impeller and it was good (new this season). It fired up fine a couple times so I guess its another gremlin????

Was back up at the boat and same issues but poped the front cover and while attempting to start I gave the Starter Solenoid Relay a couple taps and fired right up. Going to replace and see what happens. Will advise
