Tankwatch III

Post by Mike11 »

Good afternoon. Can anyone tell me what it means when the orange (mid level) light is solid and the red (full light) is flashing on a Tankwatch III waste monitor indicator? Any help is greatly appreciated.

green on solid when empty.
Green goes out after a flush of two.
Yellow on solid at mid level and stays solid until empty
Red comes on when tank is totally full. It flashes so you know not to use toilet until tank is emptied or you will have a problem

Mine has 4 levels...green, yellow, orange and red. Even after I hit red, I still have 4-5 flushes left.

The tank watch IV has four floats. Both the III and IV have the red (full) float at the very top of the assembly. If your red light is lit you have an inch, maybe an inch and a half from the water level to the top of the tank. If your vent comes out the side of the tank you are seeping black water into the vent line when the red light is on, so I would really hesitate to flush, as you could clog the vent.

Thanks everyone. The fact that both the solid orange and the flashing red were on at the same time seemed a bit odd. I just pumped it out and good now.

They can and will freak out once in a while. My fix is after a pumpout I add about 1/3 tank of fresh water, a couple cups of tide and go out in hopefully rougher water to shake things up. This has always cleared my light faults. In fact I just did the day before yesterday as my empty light did not come on. Pumped out when I came back and empty light now works plus it cleans your tank out pretty darn good. A couple times a year is all it takes.

I sometimes wonder about the accuracy of the monitors. I am gonna try Han's technique, but....
Does anyone know of some 'external' monitor device that we can place on the outside of the holding tank to read level of internal contents. I figure a peek at this 'backup' now and again may avoid some problems.
