Dock water supply

We have a new to us 2000 396. We hooked up to dockside water and have next to none, water pressure at faucets....did we miss something like an in/off valve? The PO’s never used the dockside water inlet.
Our previous boat had great water pressure with dockside water....at same marina.

Don't know what it is called but where you connect your dockside hose to the boat, there is a little doohickey on the boat side connection to guard against high water pressure. Pull it out and throw it away. Pretty sure that is your problem. Same thing happened to me last year with my 356.

its a built in pressure regulator. Depending on dock pressure it can affect what comes through it and reduce flow i had same thing happen on my last boat.

Your most likely have to replace the shore water inlet unit, most likely the pressure relief valve is stuck and not working or the check valve is stuck part way closed. You most likely not be able to get an exact replacement and may have to enlarge the hole for the new unit. You may also try taking the unit off and soaking it in vinegar or penetrating oil and see if it works!
Also make sure all your sink and shower aerators are clean.

Actually, I did replace the boatside water connector. It was pretty cheap and very easy to replace.
Took me less than 5 minutes. I can't remember if I did that before or after I tossed my doohickey.

I am ordering a new dockside inlet/pressure regulator.....makes sense that a Twenty year old rarely used item might be “froze” up.
I will follow up when replaced.

My shore water is also getting weak. Much better and more than acceptable on 12v pump power. Have ordered a new inlet. In my case it was a Shurflo.

Not to many years ago it was a trip to the "Marine" store to find out they have no stock, put down a deposit and wait a week or so only to go back to get the part. Gotta love Amazon, in stock, delivery tomorrow. 00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

UPDATE

After replacement of the dock water inlet, water pressure is back to normal. Must say this was one of the easiest repairs I have done on the boat. Took about 5 mins.
