Well, I did it!

Post by edw »

Signed a contract on an '83 3607on the Tennessee River.

Why? Darned if I know.

Boat hasn't been used much in last few years, but not in really bad shape.

Names that pop into my head are: DAMN BOAT for obvious reasons, and MAILORDER BRIDE, because they always look better in pictures than in real life.

Since I'll be single handling her most of the time, hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Time will tell.

Expect to see a lot of dumb questions (yes, they do exist) from me.

Happy motoring

You should be fine. I have the smaller sister to your boat an 81 3007 Aft Cabin that I take out all the time by myself. Just take your time learn how she handles. It's not so bad. Set up a procedure for coming back into your home dock. I leave my home dock lines preset. Coming back in is easy. I use a similar process when going to other places. Single handing can be done. Good luck.

I have the same boat (83 3607). Great boat to single-hand because you only have one step to get off the bridge, not a ladder. Really easy to grab the stern lines which hold the boat in place while you get everything else tied down.

The boat handles great and you can put it into some pretty tight spots once you get used to it.

I'm currently at Pickwick State Park, but might have to move it. I've been told that Chatanooga is a beautiful spot. Been there by air and road, never by water. Might have to make the trip.

Congrats , My wife and I picked up an 85 3607 a month ago ( just in time for storage !). I think you will enjoy it , we came from a 82 mariner and really like the aft cabin in the new boat.
