3297 Sofa
Total newb question here:
The brochure for the 1990 3297 Mariner indicates that the sofa to starboard should fold down into a double berth. My sofa appears to be the correct one, however I haven’t yet figured out how it works. The previous owner forwarded me the original documentation including all manuals, however the section of the owner’s manual for interior seating does not describe the operation of the sofa. Can anyone describe how the sofa is converted into sleeping space?

I expressed my intentions using the nonverbal communication language understood by most inanimate objects. Perhaps I didn’t hit it hard enough?

Re: 3297 Sofa
I assume this is the sofa with drawers at the base to store stuff. You need to put your fingers between the actual couch and the drawer base, and lift straight up a couple of inches and then out. You may have something stuck behind the couch restricting it from folding out, so be careful.

...sometimes a show of force and a stern warning are just not enough.........

Re: 3297 Sofa
I have the same couch, it may be too close to the wall. If the back of the couch is up against the wall it won’t work.

Re: 3297 Sofa
Hi, I just purchased an 86 Mariner 3297...It likely needs a new sofa...does anyone know the dimensions (boat is out of state so I cannot measure)....where do I shop for a new one??? Would prefer one with storage vs. a pull out bed.
Thank you
Ron

Rstarr813 . Check Rv furniture is one consideration, making or having something made, flexsteel, or google boat furniture also.

Re: 3297 Sofa
I can measure my stock sofa sometime in the next day or two. Watch this space.
As for it not folding out, I think the trick is that the feet are supposed to be secured to the cabin sole. Mine moves around so instead of pulling against the springs and unfolding it just moves around. I had to replace that section of cabin sole recently due to water damage and looked closely at the underside of the sofa while I had it moved. I’m fairly certain that if I bolt it in place it will work correctly.
