Well I took the plunge and got the boat I've always wanted. Surveyed great, very little work to do other than typical things like getting serviced...maybe new belts hoses and coolant on the gen set. Just hoping with 1300 hours the engines last a few years without needing Overhaul.
I know the sofa and dinette cushions are not perfect....does anyone know the dimensions for the sofa so I can get a new one?
Also, for boat lettering/decal....What is the dimensions on the transom?? How would I remove old boat name???
I haven't picked up boat yet...it's inCleveland, and I'm in Chicago...going to haul it out next week....

Re: New Owner 86 Mariner 3297
Welcome from a fellow 3297 owner. I’ll get you dimensions on that sofa probably tomorrow. Today was a garage day. Tomorrow will almost certainly be a boat day. I’ve had to learn a lot about my boat fairly quickly so hopefully I can help with questions. Since mine is a bit of a basket case, maybe you can show me some pictures of how some of the trim is supposed to go together.
Congratulations on your new boat. I hope everything goes well!

Re: New Owner 86 Mariner 3297
Depends if they are paint or stickers. If paint, you might be able to wipe them down with Acetone or Carb Cleaner and take the majority off quickly. Might need to use something like a Scotchbrite pad with it. If that works, then use some rubbing and polishing compounds to shine it back up. If you need something more aggressive, you can use some 2000 grit sandpaper on the paint, then do the rubbing/polishing after.
If it's stickers, you might be able to use heat to soften them and pull them off. This works 50% of the time...just depends on the glue that was used. 3M also makes a drill bit attachment that works wonder like a big eraser to take them off (works great with old stripes too!!)
There was a guy not too far from here that was parting out a mid-80's 3207. Probably had a lot of the same parts. I'll see if I can find any of his contact info and fwd if I can.MrMainer86 wrote:Hello, I just bought a Carver Mariner 1986 with the two 305's I am looking for original parts if any one knows anyone who has some.
