BBQ Placement

Post by Grafunkus »

We purchased a 3607 aft cabin that comes equipped with full enclosure so there is no obvious place to put a bbq. Just wondering what the rest of you do for your bbq?

Ours is mounted on the port side of our 2006 36MY, just outside the port side patio door. It's opposite side from salon access, keeps the smoke out. And most times, we do a port side the up.

After trying and seeing literally dozens there iare no better mounts than Magma mounts. My preference is the one in the picture. BBQ swings in or out and have 4 :-O I choose the mounting locations for best wind direction at the time The additional ones are also used for a small table I screwed a mount to, just a cutting board but easy to stow.

Weber Grill.jpg

I mounted a baby Weber on a piece of starboard and attached to a Magma pedestal and placed on my swim platform. It's easily removed and stored after use. Works great.
Sorry, I can't seem to rotate the picture.

Wow. Never really thought about it but that's a great question!! I had a 3607 too, but without the full enclosure so I just built a table on the aft deck and we used the grill all the time. Thinking about it, none of my friends that have full enclosures even have grills and have to use the galley for all their prep. I'm sure I would miss the grill!!

Wouldn't be an issue without the full enclosure. Not particularly interested in the swim platform area at this time. Haven't switched from ladder to stairs - no sure the knees could take the ladder while cooking all the time. I have decided that Carver made a design error in putting the opening from the stern on the wrong side. We have friends that have a Prowler and the access from the stern is the same side as the opening into the salon. Gives much more room for accessories!!!!  Will definitely have to research more!!

I would not put it on the stock swim platform either on a 3607. The stock platform is very narrow and you're essentially standing next to a wall instead of a lower transom so there's not nearly the room to move around. Add in a little rocking with the boat and things would be going into the drink frequently.
