Ok guys, i don't know where to post this. Check this out, go back a couple videos. These are some sort of car guys that blew a Cummins 14 liter diesel in an old Reva and have decided to replace both the big diesels with a couple new 454 racing motors to save money and go faster. Its a train wreck that I cant stop watching.
That video makes a pretty good case for maintaining your cooling system, the results of not getting all the impeller bits after a failure is quite clear with the local overheat damage to the seals on the cylinder sleeve....then it just gets worse in time.....nice to see the forensics.
Also, they make a good point about the engine package placement in the boat ( serious big heavy engines) , one side was being half-assed based on the access. Also interesting to see where else oil leaks can be trouble.
I guess time will tell here......one thing for sure it gets views.
I've often wondered why there isn't a strainer as std equipment after the raw water pumps. Seems like this is such a common issue and it would be easy to open a strainer and pull out the parts rather than have to pull most of the cooling system apart to find them.
Wow, so many things wrong with this guy's videos. They may be good with automotive stuff but they have lot to learn about marine mechanical, specs, needs, terminology, etc. Oh, and they should have kept the diesels in that boat! I'm sure they'll wish later that they did, even if they're not willing to admit it publicly.
